There were 222 sales reported in areas 1-5 in Saskatoon during the month of January, down 10% from the 247 sales reported during January 2012. Areas 6-9, which include acreages and the communities in the surrounding area, reported 59 sales, an increase of 40% from last year's 42 reported sales for the same period.
The average selling price of a home in Saskatoon increased 5% from January 2012 to $335,168. The surrounding area saw an increase of 4% with the average sale price of a home in January 2013 being $279,312.
There were 571 homes listed for sale in Saskatoon during the month, an increase of 8% from last January, to bring the total number of active listings to 1015. The surrounding area had 204 new listings during the month, an increase of 10% from last year's period, to end the month with 738 active properties for sale.
There are currently 600 trained and licensed Realtors with the Saskatoon Region Association of Realtors, an increase of 7% from last January when there were 561 licensed agents.
