One of Saskatoon's best kept residential neighbourhood secrets is Montgomery Place. As World War II ended and war veterans returned home, the neighbourhood was designated and dedicated to these brave individuals as part of the Veterans Land Act Settlement. Many of the street names commemorate outstanding individuals who fought for our freedoms. As well, you will find war memorials and statues within the neighbourhood parks. In 1956, Montgomery officially became part of Saskatoon.
Montgomery is a unique neighbourhood; large spacious residential lots, mature landscaping and you'll notice that there are no formal sidewalks. For many years the streets were not paved because the local residents wanted to keep their property taxes low. If you have ever enjoyed spending time at one of many of Saskatchewan's lakes, the neighbourhood has a similar feel.
One of the main roads that leads into Montgomery Place is called Valley Road. Valley Road will take you to a variety of places; several large greenhouses and outdoor gardens, The Strawberry Ranch, The Saskatoon Berry Barn, a par 3 golf course, Moonlake Golf and Country Club and so much more. As well, don't miss out on the annual neighbourhood-wide garage sale which takes place in May.
Montgomery has limited commercial and retail options within the neighbourhood itself; however, the Blairmore Suburban Centre is close by with a variety of options.
